It was me, I think, who came up with the awesome bon mot “men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses”. At the time, I was referring to men like you and me – rivercityvibe men. Most others, I reasoned, have to make do with whatever they can get. Well, I’ve changed my mind.

As I have grown older (or as my publicist might put it, “matured”), I have experienced much that is new and now fervently believe that rivercityvibe men are PRECISELY the type to make passes at girls who wear glasses.

You see it takes a certain vibe-style self-confidence to overlook myopia, short-sightedness, long-sightedness, near-blindness etc. and glimpse the beauty within. Added to which, it takes a certain type of girl in this day and age, to opt out of the global Lasic, contact lenses socio-industrial conspiracy. A type we like. A confident type. Probably a type that smokes. A type that is racy. A type that “goes” a bit….

Anyway, that’s the reasoning behind my change of heart. That and this picture of The Fox:

The guys responsible for publicizing the new Transformers movie are playing a blinder by putting Megan Fox front and center in all media appearances. She is so hot it gives me slight left-side cranial myalgia just looking at her (in a good way). Apparently, a guy called Shia LaBeouf (totally made up name) is in it too. Like I give a shit about that.

Anyway, I tried to post the Esquire video of the fox, Fox* last week, but the post-pirates had monkeyed with the version I had and I was pushed for time (you heard about the situation in Swat, right?). I have now got my hands on a new version. Here it is. Enjoy:

A good friend of mine, not known for his critical skills, cites Transformers as his favorite film ever. This is a young man who should know better, but he loves it. I will concede, in my high-brow way, that the movie was an entertaining spectacle, even if the ghetto accents of the ‘robots in disguise’ gave me earache.

The sequel is coming up and barely a week goes by without a dopy new trailer coming out. Nevertheless, this movie is clearly going to have awesome special effects, many explosions and Megan Fox (a long time bedside list member). For these reasons, I am going to see at as soon as I can. If this offends your aesthetic sensibilities, Dead Poets Society* is available at Blockbusters (analog rental, Cool!).
