Today is William Shakespeare’s birthday. It’s a big deal for some of us. In celebration I am going to treat you (lucky readers……..) to a clip of Kenneth Branagh playing the eponymous hero in Henry V – still probably the best movie adaptation of Shakespeare going. Let’s watch it and then discuss:

This is, of course, a fictionalized account of the eve of the Battle of Agincourt. You know – the battle in which a ragtag army of English peasants, decimated by disease and trying to escape back to England after the Siege of Harfleur, ANNIHILATED an enormous French army sent to stop them? That battle of Agincourt.
